A special occasion calls for a special performance, and that’s exactly what Joseph the Dreamer Musical Play delivered during the 25th Anniversary of the Couples for Christ community.
To say that it was a spectacular production is a huge understatement. The colorful costumes, the majestic tunes of the choir, the vigor of the dancers and the emphatic lines of the actors – all of these contributed to the awesome and emotional journey in the making and the final performance of the play.
Joseph the Dreamer’s Asenath:
I, Moon River, am one of the lucky few to be able to join the said production, and it is an honor and a blessing to be a part of this play. It is already a bonus that I got the part of one of the main characters, Asenath, who became Joseph’s wife in Egypt.
Looking back, it was not only the play itself that moved my heart, but the people involved in it; because they weren’t just the normal show business people that I happened to be with- they are my Titos and Titas, Ates and Kuyas, co-YFCs and KFC friends.
Imagine people from different parts of Davao City met and worked together to produce a number that would be the highlight of a very special celebration of the CFC community. Some of the cast haven’t even been acquainted before the start of the rehearsals. It was funny at first, especially when acting out the scenes that Joseph and I played out.
Rehearsal became more serious as we began to fully comprehend how the scenes were weaved together which contributed to our full understanding of the life of Joseph as presenting the values of courage, success, trust, loyalty and service. These are the ideals that all of us aspire to. Joseph lived them all.
The best thing about it is that in the duration of the practices and rehearsals, we became a family. The four long months of weekend practices seemed laborious and never-ending. But when performance day came, I knew that everyone in the cast and crew were on their toes. Even more, I missed being with them now that the anniversary was done. Without a doubt, we all became a whole lot closer to one another, with the Holy Spirit guiding us in every step of the way.
I cannot tell you how grateful I am to be given the chance to show my talent in singing and dancing. What surprised me the most was my hidden ability to act, which was brought out because of the play. It is all thanks to the encouragement of the CFC family and to the directors of the play: Amelia Lacerna, Criztop Lacno, Pipoi Magpatoc and Abram Alontaga.
I am also very grateful to be with people who are equally as blessed as I am and to be acquainted with people who are passionate about serving God through this play.
The rehearsals were tough, but as tough as it is, all our hard work and dedication paid off, and I can truly say that it was all worth it.
Joseph the Dreamer is a Musical, therefore we were required to learn a few dances and sing a few songs. I have met some of the most talented dancers and singers. I felt elated and proud of myself knowing that I have the privilege of working with them.
In God’s will and if ever I am given another chance, I am looking forward to be with the Joseph the Dreamer family once more in another project.
