THE INFINITY RING: THERE AND BACK AGAIN

One afternoon, a very good friend of mine asked me if I was free for that night.  It was after school so we just met up at the downtown. He asked if I wanted pizza, I said yes and so took me to Barrio Bistro.
Now, this friend and I . . . we both know that we liked each other.  That night was so exciting and the kilig was so high.  When we met, we could hardly look at each other. And when we did, were shy but we both had big smiles on our faces.  It wasn’t awkward. It’s just that, the feelings were so difficult to contain.
My friend was such a gentleman that night, bringing my bag and opening doors and all that.  I wondered why we didn’t order right away.
Just out of the blue, he reached out to hold my hand and gave me a boyish smile. What was this about? After a few gulps (and a  few breathless seconds for me) he confessed his feelings for me and for the first time he told me openly and straight to the point that he loved me.  He apologized for all the things that happened between us during high school.  He was my first boyfriend. I was his first girlfriend. And we were too young.
He held out a small purple box, opened it and I saw . . . an infinity ring.
I was open-mouthed, teary-eyed shocked to this very awesome act of love.  He said that I could wear it as a sign of his love for me.  My acceptance of the ring was an acceptance of his love.  I said “Yes” to his proposal and that was how we became a couple.  Never taking his eyes away from my eyes, he slid the ring into my finger.  Perfect fit.  After eight long years of no contact after the high school break-up (which really tore my heart to pieces. it was my first heart ache ever.) we were finally together again.

Everyone in the pizza house were oblivious to the love that has begun that night. Everything went by in a blur: we ordered pizza and shake and if I remembered it well, it was the Taco pizza, Barrio Bistro pizza and a chocolate shake which we had difficulty finishing. Imagine two pizzas and just the two of us.  Well, we were not able to finish the pizza. I told him to take it home since he was the one who paid the bill.
After that very fateful and blessed night, I thank God that we are still together one year later.  It was not so difficult to look for a place where my boyfriend (it’s so nice that I can call him my boyfriend) and I could spend our anniversary date.  We returned to Barrio Bistro, and the sat at the same table and ordered the same kind of pizza;  it was the Taco pizza, Barrio Bistro pizza and a chocolate shake which we still had difficulty finishing. I brought a candle and placed it on the Pizza cake, which the kind waiter lit for us. It was a night of reminiscing how our love had blossomed on the very same spot one year ago.
