White water rafting using barrels – I didn’t know riding in barrels in a rushing river would be very stable and safe from enemies throwing arrows at you.
Love interest of Legolas, Turiel – It is the first time to see the handsome Legolas soften his heart to a girl, a She-Elf in this case. She became his inspiration to get out of his own kingdom and be part of the world in its war against Evil. But she looks just like Merida from the movie Brave.
Of course, Smaug, The unassesably wealthy and magnificent dragon that produces dragon fire that gathered from under a glowing belly.
A treasure horde, worthy of a dragon’s guard.
A monochromatic fight scene between a wizard and the Dark Lord; how will Gandalf escape this time?
A hidden door to Erebor, kingdom under the mountain, and a staircase designed in the armor of a great dwarf stone.
Thorin skimming through a stream of hot liquid gold.
The main focus in the plot is for the dwarves to claim back their hometown, Erebor, in the Lonely Mountain. But the movie is preparing for the revelation of a bigger conflict – the resurrection of the Dark Lord and the destruction of the One ring.
The movie is actually an understanding of the LOTR story, how the Dark Lord came to become an eye and started to be active in searching for his ring. He was only black air just then.
The LOTR trilogy has already set a high standard with the visual effects and research of real landscapes for the scenery. The Hobbit was even more beautiful in terms of setting like an MMORPG environment coming alive, when one character just moves from one amazing map to another.
I haven’t read the hobbit book so I’m really excited about the next hobbit movie. I’ve only read the three LOTR books but that was a few years ago.
LOTR fanatics will not be let down with the Desolation of Smaug but they will be left hanging and wanting for more. A most genius equation would be: JRR Tolkien + Peter Jackson = Beautiful Artwork.
